HERITAGE TRUST FUND

Thank you for your interest in the Johnson County Heritage Trust Fund. The Fund was established in 1991 by the Board of County Commissioners to recognize the importance of preserving the valuable heritage and history of Johnson County.

The Board of County Commissioners also appointed a seven-member review board to develop the policies and procedures for the Fund and to review applications submitted for funding.

The 2011 Heritage Trust Fund grants round is now over. The county recevied twelve applications from area cultural and historical organizations. The Heritage Trust Fund grant review board interviewed the applicants and has made its recommendations for funding. The recommendations will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners in August 2011 for the Board’s approval.

The revenue for the fund is derived from a one-cent increase in mortgage registration fee, passed by the Kansas Legislature in 1990.

If you have additional questions about the Fund, please contact Kenneth Watt, Grants Manager, Budget and Financial Planning Department. Mr. Watt serves as the fund administrator for the seven-member review board appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Mr. Watt can be reached at kenneth.watt@jocogov.org or by phone at 715-0561.
